My approach

Katie Scampton acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine“Quite simply, at my clinics you take centre stage! I look at all aspects of your health and lifestyle in relation to each other, and, because no two people are the same, your treatment will be unique to you. This is the art of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and where the training, skill and the depth of a practitioner’s clinical experience is truly tested.  I place great importance on creating a calm, comfortable environment, so you can enjoy a relaxing, healing experience.”

How do acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine work?

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are both based on the concept of Yin and Yang and seek to treat the whole patient, not just their presenting symptoms. Pain or illness are seen as indicators that the body’s energy, or ‘qi’, is blocked or lacking and the body is out of balance. Treatment aims to re-establish the flow of qi to trigger the body’s natural healing response. In an acupuncture session, fine sterile needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to achieve this.

Chinese herbs come in both traditional and modern form, as a mixture of dried herbs to be boiled as a tea, as pills, freeze dried powders or tinctures. They do tend to taste bitter but you soon get used to them. All the herbs used in my practice are safe and approved.
